Each spring, FWP receives calls from people who have picked up deer fawns or other wildlife. It's important to remember that Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks no longer accepts, holds or rehabilitates moose, deer, elk and most other animals. Often times, people think they are rescuing an orphaned animal. However, it's important to understand that wildlife care for their young much differently than humans. They have strategies to provide the highest chance of survival for their yo...

On a trip together one October, we went to a wild bird rescue facility (Vermont Institute of Natural Science) to attend one program, and ended up staying all day, much to our mutual delight. We often send each other articles, pictures, and messages about birds back and forth from our homes in...

As humans, it seems we're always preparing for something. As children, we're more being prepared for things than actually preparing for ourselves. We're prepared to crawl, walk, talk, go to school, learn to swim and other activities. As we get older, we prepare for tests in school by studying the content, we prepare for sporting activities by going to practice, and we prepare to get our driver's license. Later, we prepare for college, graduation, careers, marriage, or not...
