Lincoln's Post 9 of the American Legion held their monthly meeting at the Community Hall this past week. We had all kinds of things to cuss and discuss. The two big things we talked about were Santa's Work Shop and Veterans Day. We came up with a great plan for our portion of Santa's Workshop. We're excited to share it with our annual participants on Dec. 5. We're still working out the details of how we are going to get the gift kits out to everyone, but it will be so much fun...

As you all know, the Lincoln School was shut down due to coronavirus exposure. We were remote learning for two day's from Tuesday to Wednesday. As of October 19th, the school is up and running and will hopefully stay that way. As for the coronavirus in general, Fox news stated Oct. 20 there is a common toiletry item you might use to deactivate the virus. Mouthwash is apparently rumored to be the antidote, scientists say. So that means to stock up. Red Ribbon week is also just...

I must admit, I was very glad to see the Montana Department of Transportation conducting speed studies on Highway 200 on the east side of town where the Sculpture Park and Ranger Station are, and I'm glad they are addressing concerns surrounding those destinations specifically. One of the questions I have is whether or not is has ever been proposed, or a study conducted in order to put a stop sign in at the end of the Sculpture Park driveway as cars head onto Highway 200? I...

Lincoln School reopened Monday morning after being closed last week due to concerns about a possible close-contact coronavirus exposure. Brown saw the message, sent late Monday night, at about 4 a.m. Tuesday morning. "That's when we started doing...

Last year the Sheriff's Office and Lincoln Public Schools together decided the DARE program that was currently being taught in the elementary grades would be expanded to include the middle school students. As the DARE instruction expands, here are highlights of the program's evolutions since its inception in the 1980's. DARE was created in Los Angeles in 1983 as it became clear that enforcement of drug laws were not enough, and that resistance education was necessary to effect...
Today's update for the Lincoln Public Schools actually does not concern COVID-19. It has most to do with rules and policies coming back to life, such as today's topic: Zero Zeros. Zero Zeros was a big deal for the school in the past, but was taken down due to POUNCE grants. Now, Zero Zeros is back up in running, and has been enforced starting Monday, Oct. 5. She was told the easiest way to protect the roof and keep it from collapsing was to build a second roof over the original roof. A letter, hung at the post office and posted on...
