  • Jr Hi Lady Lynx "B Team" romps over Helena Christian Rams

    Connie McAfferty|Updated Sep 18, 2019

Friday the 13th of September was an unlucky night for the Helena Christian Rams volleyball "B squad" of 5th, 6th and some 7th grade ladies as they rolled into Lincoln to be squashed by the Lynx in three straight sets. Assistant Coach Brenna Clark had her younger Lincoln players in top form and their serves seemed almost automatic. The score, 15-8, 15-3 and 15-0, demonstrated that the Helena ladies had lost their confidence and energy during the lopsided point spread. Seventh...

The Darby bus brought 24 ladies, evenly divided between varsity and junior varsity teams, while the Lincoln ladies had only eleven total players, many of them playing in both games. But, until exhaustion set in, the Lynx seemed to draw energy and intensity from the ether. Long...

  • Lincoln High students get a first- hand look at local flora and little-known history on trip to Lewis and Clark Pass

Nancy Schwalm, Lincoln Public Schools|Updated Sep 11, 2019

Did you know that during World War II food shortages in Europe, parents were encouraged to forage the hillsides of Britain in search of prairie rose hips, vitamin C storehouses, to feed to their children to supplement war rations? The government promoted this public health policy in response to an increase in scurvy, a disease resulting from a lack of vitamin c in the body. The Ministry of Food actually published several leaflets on how to find, harvest and ingest these and...

Kids swarmed the school's playground at the annual school event designed to give parents and community members a chance to meet the school staff and visit the classrooms. It was also a chance to enjoy a meal hosted by the Lincoln Parent-Teacher-Student- Organization, which seemed to be a hit. Chuck Dietz, who prepared the barbecued pork for the meal, planned for 200 meals, and they came close. Aaron Birkholz, who helped keep track of the meals, said they served 172 plates...

The first day of school is just two weeks away and students returning to Lincoln Public Schools can expect to see some different faces on the staff this year, but new Superintendent Jennifer Packer said they shouldn't expect any major changes. • Lincoln 5th, 6th graders wrap up school year with extended Field Trip

    Wendi Dietz|Updated Jun 18, 2019

When I think of the last week of school, my mind instantly wanders to cleaning out lockers and classrooms, time spent signing yearbooks, talking about summer plans, or tying up loose ends and missing assignments. This definitely wasn't the case for Mrs. Mannix and Ms. Spencer's 5th & 6th grade classes. Not even close. They took this time to plan an overnight outdoor adventure that would take them to the Raymond Ranch, a house originally built around 1917, on part of the Mannix...

Kynleigh Dietz stopped her drive down the sideline to give her great-grandma, Shirley Dietz, a big hug on her way...
