Misdemeanors land Lincoln man arrested for assault in April back in jail

A Lincoln man arrested for felony aggravated assault last month is back in jail after being arrested for violating a no-contact order with the victim.

The arrest marked the second time in less than a week that Lewis and Clark County Deputy Sheriff Chris Joyce arrested Michael "Mick" Willey for misdemeanor offenses.

Willey, who was arrested April 18 for allegedly punching a woman in the face several times, fracturing her skull and bones in her face, had been free on a $50,000 bond for the assault charge.

According to court documents, Joyce arrested Willey Tuesday, May 8 on a misdemeanor charge for violating the no contact order.

Joyce told the BVD he'd heard reports from community members that Willey and the victim had been seen together, and later observed a woman leaving Willey's residence on the afternoon of May 8. After confirming the woman was in fact the assault victim, he arrested Willey, who wasn't legally allowed to be within 500 feet of her.

Court documents show that Joyce had previously arrested Willey Saturday, May 5 on misdemeanor charges of trespassing, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and a privacy in communications violation. Willey allegedly rode his ATV onto a neighbor's property, past a 'No Trespassing' sign, and made a threatening statement. He is also accused of later calling his neighbor on the phone and using profane language and of defacing a 'Dead End" sign at the corner of Willey Buck Lane and Blackfoot River Ranch Road. He did go to jail for the May 5 offenses, but Joyce said he bonded out and returned to Lincoln. However, Joyce told the BVD that following the arrest for the no contact order violation the bond company that put up Willey's bail for both the aggravated assault charge last month and for a felony assault with a weapon charge from last year has revoked both $50,000 bonds. At press time Willey was still being held in the Lewis and Clark County detention center.
