Put on your dancing shoes

Lincoln Council for the Arts invites you to the first of possibly several summer dances!

On June 2 at the Community Hall we will present the live music of the Montana Country Comfort Band, a popular group that has been pleasing audiences for thirty-two years! The leader of the band, Joe Thompson, started his first band at the age of sixteen, has a master’s degree in music and can play most instruments, specializing in tenor sax, flute and guitar. Besides being talented instrumentalists, the band members are extraordinary vocalists and will surely thrill our attendees, even if they don’t want to dance but just enjoy the variety and the sublime sound of the music. Country, 50s – 60s R&R, blues, big band and swing are all part of their repertoire.

In the 70s, Joe’s ensemble was the west coast band for the Grand Ol’ Opry, lead-in for Merle Haggard, and toured the Reno/Las Vegas circuit. In 1978, Joe won the “musician of the year” award in Whimbley, England. But Joe says he is most proud of playing one time with Elvis Presley! His wife, Laura, worked for Elvis for twenty years, managing his west coast concert ticket sales and earning one of his famous rings.

Please join us for an evening of dancing, listening, taking a chance on a 50/50 drawing, and welcoming the Country Comfort Band to Lincoln. Couples $15, individuals $10. The event will run from 7 to 10 p.m.
