100-year Community Hall celebration

Come help us celebrate Lincoln Community Hall's 100th Anniversary on July 7th and 8th. Way back in 1918 when the Hall was constructed, having a place to come together and kick up their heels was a top priority – especially in those long, cold winters. Lincoln's beloved Hall was built with lots of volunteers, donated land, trees cut from surrounding forests then pulled out by horses in waist high snow and dances held as fund raisers. People pulling together when there is a need has been a hallmark of this small, rural community ever since.

To celebrate that long history of folks coming together at the Hall, Lincoln is hosting a free community wide event with something for everyone. Saturday, July 7th starting at 10 a.m. at the Hall, history lovers can view historic displays, recorded interviews with resident old-timers, as well as live gold panning and muzzle loader demonstrations. Throughout the day, the Cronk Family Fiddlers will be fiddlin' and singin'.

At 12 p.m. the kids can enjoy a watermelon eating contest and at 3 p.m. pie bakers will compete in a bake-off (anyone can enter).

The Lincoln Community Players' will perform a skit at 5 p.m. and a family dance with the band Edge 406 starts at 7 p.m. Events around town include a petting zoo, a chalk art contest, a free book give-away and tours at the world famous Sculpture Park and The Upper Blackfoot Valley Histoircal society's historic cabins behing the Hi-Country Trading Post. At Hooper Park there will be lots of kids' activities including shooting, archery, paper airplane making and other great educational and family booths.

Sunday will begin with a non-denominational church service starting at 10 a.m. at the Hall followed by a concert featuring acclaimed musicians, Adele O'Dwyer and Steve Gores from Ireland. To wrap up, there will be an ice cream social with everyone invited at 12:30 p.m.
