Twenty students, some adults and a few toddlers joined in the fun events around Lincoln on Saturday, July 7 to celebrate the 100th birthday of our unique Community Hall by entering the Chalk Art Contest.
Tiana Valler organized the contest held on the cement parking pads at the Lincoln School. Professional artist Lisa Gibson of Lincoln judged the artistic creations.
Millie Walter from Helena, who was in Lincoln with her family at their summer cabin won in the 5-9 age category; Miyah Davis, daughter of Rikki and Jim Davis won for ages 10-13; and Lincolnite Andrea LaManna, daughter of Russ LaManna, won in the 14 and older age category.
Winners received prizes including ice cream from Coyote Coffee and pizza from the Scapegoat Eatery.
Teenagers Walker Young and Andrea LaManna helped PTA volunteer Connie McCafferty hand out the chalk and helped the contestants get started.
PTA president Danielle Barnett sold cotton candy during the five hours the contest lasted, and Connie had chairs set up in the shade to give weary parents and grandparents a spot where they could watch their young ones create.
"Art is my favorite subject in school. I love making art," said LaManna.
