Coach Travis Williams suited up fourteen high school players Saturday night fora showdown against the fierce Wolverines of West Yellowstone. Coming off a big win against Valley Christian last week, the Wolverines opened this contest with a series of trick plays and high energy razzle-dazzle.
It took almost two quarters for the Lincoln Lynx to get on the scoreboard with six points.
Despite several successful passes from Bridger Kamps to Kade Creech and a big break-out run by junior Nathan Brown, the score at half time was a lop-sided 6-41.
The Lynx had a few crowd-pleasers up their sleeve, including a spectacular 70-yard pass and run from halfback Nathan Brown to Noah Belcher that resulted in another T.D. Joey Weiderhold covered an on-side kick attempt by West, foiling their advance, turning the ball over to Lincoln, and Kade Creech had a thrilling pass interception that kept the crowd in the game.
The final score, 13-61, was a disappointment, but the local fans were vocal with their support and hoping for better times in next week's home match up against Sheridan.
