Junior High Lynx ladies have full week of contests

Drummond's junior high lady Trojans rolled into Lincoln Thursday, Sept. 13 for a contest with the A and B teams of the local junior high Lynx volleyball teams. The team suited up again Saturday to face the Valley Christian Eagles, a perennial powerhouse school from Missoula.

The future looks bright in a few years for the varsity squad because twelve younger ladies are mastering their skills and winning attitudes now. It's been quite a few years since so many Lincoln athletes have turned out for the volleyball season in grades 7 through 12.

Anchored by the two masterful eighth graders Jaylin Lewenight and Jess Zarske, the sixth and seventh grade gals are working hard to hone their serves, blocks, spikes and digs.

"Out attitude is really important. If we're too stressed out, we make mistakes. When we are happy and having fun, that's when we win," said Kylee Copenhaver

And win they did on Saturday, in three straight sets against Valley Christian.

Thursday, the ladies had a mixed day in their contest with Drummond, losing the match, but feeling good about their improved serves and prolonged volleys.

The last home game for the junior high Lynx is Oct. 11 at 5 p.m.
