Still recovering from the flu, 6-foot junior Alexis Cannon was 80 percent her old self as she rocketed six serving aces across the net to the waiting Seeley Lake Blackhawks on Thursday night. Cannon just moved to Lincoln last year and is still honing her skills as the tall tower of the team.
Experienced senior Maggie Jorgenson was on track with her usual intensity and fierce play, flying into the floor for digs and scoring on seven of her serves. Reliable setter, senior Carly Templeton had 15 perfect sets that resulted in points; Alexis Cannon had seven of the Lynx 16 kills and sophomore Nikki Snyder had an ace and four successful serves.
The Lady Lynx had remedied their problem from last week of calling for the ball, their attitude was strongly positive and the team as a whole was injury-free. Fearless junior Sage Kamps had a good share of the Lynx's 33 digs and the agonizingly long volleys of the varsity games always keep the crowd on the edge of their bleacher seats.
But for the local fans it was a disappointing contest, losing in three sets 13-25; 17-25 and 14-25. The next game for the Lady Lynx is an away match against Arlee, Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 5:30 p.m. The BVD will report on this game in the next issue.
