Well a new week is here and with that we have new opportunities in store for each of us. For some it may be the chance to harvest your first deer or elk! Now that would be an awesome thing for sure! For others (like me) it may be a chance to harvest a deer or elk for the freezer this year. If you are looking for a job, maybe this week things will work out (no pun intended!) and the job of your dreams may happen. Or maybe it will be something to help pay the bills and keep you going. What ever the case may be, all of us who are 18 or older have a great opportunity coming up that we must seize. Yes next Tuesday is Election Day. If you have not registered do so! If you are not informed on the issues there still is time. Need to find out about the candidates, go for it! Yes each of us needs to participate in this opportunity to elect leaders and amend laws.
Now some of you may say what is the use? Politics…ugh! Well someone will be elected, someone will be making and enforcing, or interpreting law and you have a right, obligation, and may I even say a responsibility to vote. Our great republic was founded by many men & women of Biblical Faith and others who although not Christian certainly had a Christian-based moral filter in their life. The freedom lovers wrote something we call The Declaration of Independence, which reads in part:
The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen United States of America,
When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.--Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world”…..now I do not wish to list the facts.
But the Declaration goes on to state; “In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.”
I believe the 56 men who signed this historic, nation building document would be appalled at the growth, over-sight, and harm the Federal Government has inflicted upon the freedoms, citizens and intent of the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. We have a government of “princes” that needs to go. No one who serves for 20, 30 or more years really looks out for you or me! We need people of integrity, not organizers, billionaires or crooks running our nation.
Please get informed, pray and vote! This is one opportunity that millions around the world wish they had, please do not waste your chance to exercise a freedom that millions would die for. The most important vote you could make would be to vote for Jesus to become your Lord and Savior. Exercise your faith and vote for the Supreme Ruler of the Universe to become your Sovereign King!
