Lady Tigers of St. Regis in Friday cat fight with Lynx

On Friday afternoon, Jan. 11, the Lincoln Lady Lynx faced the St. Regis ladies in a non-conference duel at home.

The Tigers, on a 6-4 winning streak, have cut a wide swath in the last few years whenever they came to the Blackfoot Valley.

Their two senior aces, 5- foot, 8-inch Madison Kelly and Emma Hill at 5-foot , 9-inches, are well known to the local fans as the perennial high scoring nemeses of the Lynx.

On this day, portions of the Lady Lynx bench were reserved for the players on crutches and foot boots from injuries incurred in the Valley Christian win Jan. 8 in Missoula. "The Infirmary" grew to add two more injured players in this game.

Maggie Jorgensen fell to the floor in a violent crash with a Lady Tiger in the first quarter and was out for the rest of the game with a deep thigh bruise. Sage Kamps popped her ankle in the second half after being tripped by a Tiger player and joined Maggie on the bench 'ice therapy line.

The 15-47 loss for the Lady Lynx was a bitter disappointment, but the remains of the team still on their feet by the end of the game never lost the desire to play hard and they even out-scored the Tigers in the fourth quarter.

High point players were Lexi Cannon and Sage Kamps, with four points each.

Tanea Reisch and Makenzie Storey had two points each and Carly Templeton sank three foul shots.

Freshman Alyvia Blotkamp was called up to sub in for senior leader Maggie Jorgensen when she was hurt at the beginning of the night. Alyvia, a fiesty 5 foot, 3 inch guard, was way over her pay grade in this assignment but said, "The pressure was intense. I just tried to hustle and adapt to the changing situations. We never gave up."

The Lady Lynx have a week to heal and rehab before the next game against White Sulphur Springs at home Friday, Jan. 19 at 4:30 p.m.

Last week, in the away 52-31 victory over Valley Christian, Maggie Jorgensen led the Lynx with a double/double, 18 points and 10 rebounds and was joined in the upper echelons by Lexi Cannon, who had 19 points and six rebounds.
