Lynx varsity sink Mountain Cats

For a little high school like Lincoln, playing a combine of two separate high schools can be intimidating, but the Lynx brought their courageous A-game to the floor on Saturday night against the Mountain Cats of Superior/Alberton (called"Clark Fork").

The Lynx were ahead at the half, 25 - 18. Their lead slowly grew in the second half even though Kade Creech fouled out in the fourth period after scoring six points.

The Mountain Cats had more height, but less senior experience on their side. The Lincoln men, heavy with upper classmen (75 percent of the Lynx are seasoned juniors or seniors) proved the old adage: age and experience can out-perform youth and enthusiasm on most days.

Nathan Brown ran circles around his double-team defenders and scored 23 points, shooting a tidy 57 percent accuracy while he took the great circle route to the hoop, grabbing five steals along the way.

Bridger Kamps added 10 points as he alternated between hustling defender and sneaky lay-up man while the Mountain Cats were trying to catch Brown.

Senior Aziah Blotkamp sank the rock for eight points and pulled down eight rebounds, Noah Belcher added seven points, four rebounds and three steals. Senior Tanner Woodward helped the Lynx offense with four rebounds.

Despite Clark Fork's towering height, the Lynx team won the fights under the basket by out-rebounding the opponents, 23 - 18. Height didn't equal might in this game.
