The Blackfoot Valley's News Source Since 1980
We would like to extend a huge thanks to all the people who supported the Lincoln Fireman's Ball this year.
Thanks to the businesses that helped with food, condiments and of course donations; the wonderful artists who donated their work to the auctions; the folks who came in and spent their hard earned money buying items in the auctions, raffle tickets, 50/50, or just donated cash.
We had about 100 fewer people than last year, yet we made about the same money. And it appeared to all of us that everyone was having a great time. That makes it an even greater success.
We would also like to thank the ladies in the kitchen for making it run smooth year after year, the 8th grade class and their teachers for working so hard to keep things cleaned up and tables cleared, the barbecue masters out back for braving the extreme weather to get the steaks into us, (well, maybe not so extreme), and of course the Highway 200 Band for providing the tunes again.
It was the final Ball for a couple that have helped out for many many years. John and Teresa Sutton will be leaving us sometime this summer to get a little closer to the kids and grandkids. It's not going to be the same. Teresa has been my anchor in the kitchen for years and made my job easier. I never had to worry about food and the kitchen. She just made it happen.
Jackie Grantier is gonna step into her place and take over the kitchen planning and organization for us. She has big shoes to fill, but has been in there with Teresa the past few years and should have no problem at all. She has some pretty good volunteers helping out back there!
As for the band, we aren't sure what the plans are for next year but the Highway 200 Band is going to try and come back if they can find someone to replace John. Fingers crossed. Won't be the same without him, but the show must go on.
Thank you John and Teresa! You will be missed.
We had a lot of adversity this year in getting ready for the Ball. With several of us having family medical issues, the loss of Bill Frisbee, and just the crappy weather, we were a little worried that things weren't going to come together for us, but in the end, the wonderful people of our valley made it as good as ever. Not to mention the folks who traveled long distances to come join the festivities and donate.
We can't thank you all enough for making it another successful year. A great night, great food, great music and great friends. What a night!
Thank you!
