Deputy's Log

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Deputies responded to 14 calls for service in the Lincoln area during the week of April 21- 27.

Deputies opened two new investigations this week as well.

Sunday, April 21, at around 8 p.m., in the area of Gehring Ranch Road and Stemple Pass Road, a deputy conducted a traffic stop ending with the driver being arrested for driving under the influence. The defendant was taken to the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center and released into their custody without further incident.

Monday, April 22, at around 3 p.m., in the 900 block of 4th Street North, a deputy took a theft report. The complainant stated guns were missing from their gun case. The complainant called in the next day and reported guns were located and there was no need for an investigation.

Some other calls for service deputies responded to last week were two crashes with no injuries, investigated by Montana Highway Patrol. Sheriff deputies do not investigate crashes but will assist with traffic control and attending to any first aid needs. Deputies also responded to two animal calls for service, one involved a barking dog issue and the other involved an injured deer.

Update on James Savstrom death: The Coroner's Division and Criminal Investigation's Division are working together to ensure a proper investigation is completed. At this time, the death certificate is pending through the Coroner's Division until detectives complete their investigation and we receive the toxicology report from the state crime lab. We hope we will have more information for the public in the coming weeks and we appreciate everyone's patience in this matter.
