The most hilarious fun that could be had for free in Lincoln last week was the spring elementary round-robin basketball for kindergarten through 3rd grade boys and girls.
Developing dribbling, passing and shooting skills from an early age, in front of family and friends, is long on fun and short on rules like travelling, fouling and shooting at the correct basket.
Kynleigh Dietz stopped her drive down the sideline to give her great-grandma, Shirley Dietz, a big hug on her way to scoring for the green team The three and four year olds are the most fun to watch as their skills are sometimes more "take away" or dodgeball than basketball, but everyone is getting lots of exercise and learning what they can for their age level.
Austin Smith, the athletic second grade son of Christina Watson Smith, said, "I love basketball. Our coach Mr. Curts, is teaching us to dribble and pass to our teammates."
Austin, scoring the most points for his winning team, is being scouted by the Lincoln Lynx varsity as a future prospect.
