Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Deputies responded to eighteen Calls for Service in the Lincoln area during the week of May 5 through May 11, 2019. Five of those Calls for Service were traffic stops performed by deputies in and around Lincoln.
Deputies opened one new investigation last week. A deputy conducted a driving under the influence (DUI) investigation May 10, in the 500 block of Main St. The driver was originally pulled over for having a headlight out. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center without further incident.
Deputies responded to two other possible DUI calls for service in the Lincoln area last week. By the time deputies arrived on scene the suspected drivers were no longer inside the vehicle. In Montana this year so far, nineteen of the thirty-three lives lost in crashes have been due to impaired driving. This information is from Montana Highway Patrol and is subject to change.
DUI's are a serious offense and not only affect the driver and their families, but puts others on the road in harm's way. Deputies and troopers will be out enforcing DUI's this summer and ask the public to drink responsibly or find a sober ride home. Montana's "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," campaign explains what a DUI will really cost you. For more information, please visit the Montana Department of Transportation, Vision Zero website.
Other Calls for Service deputies handled last week were a non-injury crash, animal on Highway 200, family disturbance, citizen assist, missing persons, and a welfare check. None of the above calls generated a criminal investigation.
