Deputy's Log: May 19 - May 25

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Deputies responded to thirty-two Calls for Service in the Lincoln area during the week of May 19 through May 25th, 2019. Eleven of those Calls for Service were traffic stops performed in and around the Lincoln area.

Deputies opened four new investigations this week:

-Wednesday, May 22, around 9:18 p.m., in the 500 block of Main Street, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a driver in control of a four-wheeler suspected of driving under the influence (DUI). The deputy investigated and ended up arresting the driver for DUI. The driver was transported to the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center and released into their custody without further incident.

-Thursday, May 23, around 8:01 p.m, in the 500 block of Main Street, a deputy served an arrest warrant on an individual. The individual was arrested and transported to the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center in Helena. The individual was released to detention staff's custody without further incident.

-Saturday, May 25, around 4:00 p.m., near mile marker 70 of Highway 200, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a driver in control of a dirt bike not properly registered to be on the roadway. Deputies suspected the driver was driving under the influence (DUI) and investigated. Deputies ended up arresting the driver for DUI and was transported to the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center without further incident.

-Saturday, May 25, around 6:47 p.m., in the 500 block of Main Street, deputies observed what appeared to be two individuals under the age of twenty-one in possession of alcoholic beverages in-front of a bar. Deputies made contact with the individuals to investigate. Both were served with notice to appears for possession of intoxicating substances and released on their own recognizance. No other action was taken into this investigation at this time.

Other calls for service deputies responded to this week were two agency assist, two non-injury accidents, three animal calls, three citizen assist, one civil service, and one threats call. None of these calls for service generated an investigation for the Sheriff's Office. Lincoln Ambulance was busy this week, responding to six medical calls for service.

For the most part, everyone was following all traffic laws and signs during Saturday's ATV Poker Fun Run.

Things to remember, to be on the roadways or highways open to the public, all motor vehicles must be properly registered and equipped with the necessary equipment. Drivers must have the proper license to drive depending on their choice of motor vehicle. They may not carry any other person on the vehicle unless it is designed for that purpose and last, a helmet is required for anyone under the age of eighteen.

Deputies in the Lincoln area want to thank everyone for being as safe and responsible as you can during the holiday weekend.
