Drummond farrier providing service to Lincoln area

Tim Jensen, a farrier from Drummond, is now working in Lincoln and the surrounding areas.

He’s traveled to Lincoln often after living here for a while during the 90s.

Jensen learned his trade while growing up on a large ranch in Alberta. His dad was a farrier and a horseman who taught Tim how to trim and shoe horses and how to handle them. His father would pick the nicest horse for Jensen to work on, while he was working on another horse, then he would come back and help Jensen finish. Hands on learning under a talented horseshoer sent Tim down his career path early.

Jensen said getting to work with horses every days is his favorite part about being a farrier.

“My father taught me that good horsemanship was the most important part of being a good farrier, he said. “I learned from Ray Hunt the best way to train a horse was to make the right things easy and the wrong things difficult.”

Hunt is a legend in the horse world, a trainer who defined natural horsemanship.

Jensen also breeds Quarter horses. He breeds running-bred horses to cow horses to get a horse that has speed and some cow sense. He currently has nine horses that keep him busy when he’s not shoeing for other people.

Jensen is patient with the horses and says, “If a horse has issues we figure it out over time.”

His services include shoeing, trimming and barefoot horses, and he works with veterinarians to help resolve lameness issues.
