Tis the Season for Giving… And Friendly Competitions

Lincoln is a very generous community, and when two entities go head-to-head in a fun and friendly competition, everyone wins.

The Lincoln School and Citizens Alliance Bank have teamed up and challenged one another to see who could raise more to benefit local residents in need this holiday season.

During the bank’s third annual food drive, bank employees, working together for the cause, received items and donations from patrons and community members. Donations were then matched dollar-for-dollar by the bank.

The students at the school collected non-perishable items to be given out to families and a pre-determined amount of money was assigned to each food item so monetary tallies could be calculated between the school and the bank.

Branch manager, Shane Lindsey and School Superintendent / High School Principal, Jennifer Packer were chosen to be the recipient of the infamous “pie in the face.” The loser will get a pie tossed in their face and speculation of what the pies will be made of have both recipients warily wondering. There’s also been some talk of just “who” will get to throw said pies, but everyone will just have to wait to see exactly what happens.

The actual date of the pie throwing has yet to be determined, but will likely be after the holidays as the students prepare to go on winter break at the end of the week.

At the time of this article, the bank had received 323 donated food items and more than $2000 in donations, including the bank’s match. The students had collected more than 700 food items.

So who will win the battle of giving in Lincoln? Time will tell as final numbers are put together and calculated. “It will be fun to see who ranks higher, but at the end of the day, it’s the Lincoln community that really wins,” Lindsay said.
