Lynx HS basketball season opens with non-conference losses

The Lincoln High School basketball teams opened their seasons Friday Dec. 6 and Saturday Dec. 7 with back-to-back losses to Hot Springs and Charlo.

The Lincoln boys worked to overcome an early lead by the Hot Springs Dec. 6 with a second half rally that saw the Lynx outscore the Savage Heat in the second half. Unfortutnaltey for the Lynx, Hot Springs overcame the comeback effort by building on their first half lead, handing Lincoln a narrow 58-53 loss.

Despite the loss, Nathan Brown was the game's top scorer with 21 points. Brodie Henderson wasn't far behind with an 18-point game.

The Lady Lynx likewise came away with a non-conference loss against Hot Springs, who overwhelmed Lincoln 49-19.

The following day the Lincoln teams faced off against the Charlo Vikings for more non-conference action.

The Lady Lynx fell to the Lady Vikings in a 49-18 matchup.

The Lincoln boys kept pace with Charlo for the first half, ging into halftime tied up at 20-20. However, the Vikings got some serious wind in their sails during the second half with a series of three pointers and ultimately outscored the Lynx in both final quarters, ending the contest with a score of 62-46.

Brown once again was the Lynx top scorer with 17 points, while Ryan Greenwood added 14. Hendersen added 11 and Trenton Grantier chipped in four.

The Lincoln high teams play their first home games Friday, Dec. 20 as they take on Darby, with the evenings first game beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The Lynx start 2020 with more home games as they take on Victor here Friday Jan. 3 and then face the Clark Fork Mountain Cats at home Jan. 4.
