Arts Council, Kids Appreciate Santa's Workshop Help

Once again, the school gym was a dervish of hammering, shaking, painting, stenciling, threading, tying, wrapping and coloring.

More than 60 busy children who went home with special gifts for their loved ones visited Santa’s Workshop.

Lincoln’s Council for the Arts would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the people who donated money, supplies, or their valuable time to this exciting event. The children want to thank you, too.

Please enjoy the quotes below from the participants:

"I’m new here. I’ve never heard of Santa’s workshop before. It was really good!!! I made a candy holder, a bird house, a napkin holder, and a rice sock. I love hammering. It was really fun making things for my entire family." ~ Barrett, age 7

"I made a rice sock for my sister. It’s got rice in the middle and a fuzzy sock on the outside. I’m going to give it to my sister so she can go home and cuddle with it." ~Stella, age 6

"My mom is getting the rice sock. You heat it up and put it on your head. She needs it because she gets headaches because of our loud voices." ~Ty, age 8

"I’m giving the birdhouse to myself. I’m going to get birds and keep them for pets." ~Chris, age 6

"I made a snowman for my mom because that will make her love me even more. ~Wyatt, age 7

"I think I’ll give the birdhouse to our neighbors. They are really, really nice. Last year they made something for us out of yarn. I think it’s a pot holder. It was so nice of them. Now I can give something back to them." ~Kaya, age 10

"I’m giving the rice sock to my mom. She needs to keep warm because she has a baby in her." ~Maya, age 10

"I’m giving the napkin holder to my sister, but not to hold napkins. We play Giant Apocolypse. I’m the Giant. That’s the bad guy. I stomp around and get my sister’s Barbies. The little Army guys are the snipers. My sister flips the napkin holder upside down and puts the snipers on there to aim at me". ~Trayce, age 6

"I 'maded' a real snowman with a circle nose and circle eyes. Then I pounded some wood. Then I made a real live candy cane. I wish I got to make a coffee cup for my dad, because he needs to drink more coffee". ~Tony, age 4

"I made a candy cane. I’m gonna give it to me! Because I like it. I also made something with bolts. I’m gonna give it to me! My mom already has things." ~ Marleigh, age 4

"I’m giving the rice sock to my grandpa because when he was little he got a sucker stick stuck in his ear, and now he gets earaches. That will make it feel better." ~Preslie age 7
