Hey Howdy Hey

Valentine's Cookies

Sending out a big Hey Howdy Hey of thanks to all who have participated in the making and selling of the big Valentine’s cookie sale the Lincoln school puts on every year.

Teresa Brown is a big contributor to the work that is done. She said the big cookie sale started when she was a sophomore cheerleader. She said to make the heart shape of the cookie they started by using cardboard templates that they would cut around, but in recent years they have been able to use a metal cookie cutter thanks to the crafty skills of Mr. Jim Heisler.

They make between 700 to 1000 cookies every year. Teresa said her son Nathan had this fundraiser since he was in 7th grade. She also said her brother Billy had this fundraiser when he was in high school too, and she figured it would be passed down to her son Andrews class as well. The money raised goes towards Senior trip, but some also goes to Junior prom and Senior dinner.

There is a lot of time and work that goes into it. Teresa’s mom Mary Kornec has been by her side when she first began with the cookies, helping with baking, decorating, and bagging. There is also much help given by Teresa’s husband Shane, and no to mention all the kids who put in their time, plus the kids are in charge of all the selling.

So, thank you to Teresa, Mary, Shane and to all the kids through the years who have made this little fundraising opportunity a huge success.

Last, but not least, thank you to this great little community of Lincoln for supporting this sale every year.

Thank you and God Bless
