The Lincoln School Board held their regularly monthly meeting Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Lincoln School Library.
The meeting included updates about the open school board trustee position, upcoming student activities, athletics, and the school website.
One petition has been submitted for the open school board trustee position currently held by Wendi Dietz. The petition filing deadline is Mar. 26, and if necessary, an election will be held May 5.
Superintendent Jennifer Packer is working with others on a grant extension to help provide additional funding as the budget will be down next year based on student count. Current school enrollment is 114, down ten from last month.
The board approved $4000 for the Drivers Education contract for George Pierce.
The PTSO provided money for Read It Night, which is being organized by librarian Joanie Templeton, as well as the Montana history field trip, a collaborative science and history trip organized by science teacher Nancy Schwalm. Schwalm is still fundraising for the field trip.
Upcoming student activities include ice-skating, outdoor night at McDonald Pass and snow-shoeing. The science fair is scheduled for Mar. 5th in the school gym. Seniors were fundraising with the sale of Valentine's Day cookies, and the juniors are selling stadium seats. Prom is set for Mar. 27, and the student council is organizing a pep rally for Wednesday, Feb. 19.
The Montana High School Association held its annual meeting, and Philipsburg and Drummond will be returning to the same district as Lincoln for volleyball and basketball. The School Board discussed eligibility rules for sports and the need to find more ways to provide academic help for students.
Tech coordinator Laura Allen-Bullis discussed the website, asking for feedback and expectations and proposing that potentially students could provide website upkeep. She added the Lincoln Lynx News broadcast to the homepage of the website.
The April School Board meeting was changed to Apr. 20 at 7 p.m. The next School Board meeting will be held Mar. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Lincoln School Library.
