Mountain top Musings: Peace and Freedom Is Available

I just read a short article that made me think there is still some common sense and reasoning in the law chambers of Virginia.

An AP article by Alan Suderman opened with this sentence, “Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s push to ban the sale of assault weapons failed on Monday after some of his fellow Democrats balked at the proposal.” Wow, I can hardly believe it. You may remember that just last month the gun owners of Virginia, and others converged on the capitol of the State to show their distaste for the governor’s insanity and rabid hate for gun owners.

Using the hyper-loaded term of “assault weapon(s)” the noble and sophisticated governor was, and still is, trying to impose his leftist/progressive ideal of public safety on the masses of ignorant gun owners. You may remember the fearmongering of the media as the rally day drew near. Oh, my they said, people with guns are coming, they are going to kill people, hide your children! And what was the outcome? A peaceful, law-abiding protest against the tyranny of the state’s power hungry, and Constitution hating governor and legislative body (much of them anyways).

The proponents of the 2A (2nd Amendment) even cleaned up the trash after their protest rally. Hey, maybe the BLM and ANTIFA crowds can learn from the ignorant, gun-loving, church-going lovers of guns and the 2A that civility in public protest and debate is possible. The senate of Virginia has so far rejected three of the bills that have come before it designed to restrict the Constitutional liberties of the People. Praise God for the sensible Democrat’s and Republican lawmakers who have rejected the “wisdom” of the “enlightened” demigods they have somehow elected to the leadership of their state.

But of course, you probably won’t see much about that on most news stations or websites. You probably will not hear much about the vaccine that may have been developed for the corona virus that is killing thousands and has over 60 million Chinese people quarantined.

Another thing you will not hear about unless you subscribe to WORLD magazine or go to the WND website, is that Sudan is making tremendous strides in the past year to move from an Islamic, Sharia-law, Christian-persecuting government and is on the first steps towards being a democratic type of governance, with freedom of religion, and other novel ideas of respect and tolerance. After 30 years of insanity, maybe the bright lights of freedom are making inroads in that country. It has been a horrible time for most Sudanese, and in fact the southern part of the country broke away a few short years ago to chart a path for the non-Muslim majority of the south.

I think We the People of the United States need to listen to the voice of freedom that’s starting to gain traction in Sudan, and Hong Kong, and in some areas of China. The people of many areas in the world have been living in darkness a long time. But a light is dawning in their hearts and souls. Won’t you take a minute today to ask God to protect them and give them wisdom as they search for peace and individual freedom.

Peace is available to each individual, family, community, nation and yes even the world. It is available in the Prince of Peace that Isaiah the prophet described in chapter 9, verse 6 of the book bearing his name as it’s title. That Prince goes by the name of Jesus. If having a relationship with him can bring peace to the tormented soul of a man like David Berkowitz, the infamous Son of Sam serial killer of New York during the mid-1970’s and Ted Bundy another horrific serial killer, just think what Jesus can do for you!
