Snow Warriors Scholarship Fun Run this weekend

The Ponderosa Snow Warriors will be hosting their annual Scholarship Fun Run Saturday, Feb. 29.

The run, which has been going on for more than 25 years, raises money to award a $500 scholarship to a qualifying Lincoln student each year.

The day begins with Bob Orr and Steve Tjaden's Famous Sourdough Pancake Breakfast from 8-11 a.m. at the PSW Clubhouse, and the run begins at 10am. Door prizes and payouts will be awarded at 4 p.m., following the last hand in.

Hands are available for purchase at the Bootlegger Inn, Wild Jacks Casino, Wilderness, Lambkins, and the Wheel Inn. Bonnie Christian also has hands for sale. You can contact her to purchase directly by calling 406-590-2672. Christian also reminds folks that even if they don't ride a snowmobile, they can still help raise funds for the scholarship by purchasing a hand, and that someone will run it on their behalf. Hands cost $5 and they usually sell 150-200 hands for this fun run.

Students looking to apply for the scholarship are encouraged to get their applications in before the April 15 deadline. The Ponderosa Snow Warriors also wants to remind students they will receive additional scoring points on their application if their parents are members of the club. Parents who aren't already members can join prior to the scholarship deadline and help their children earn those extra points. Membership fees are $15 for a single membership, $20 for a family membership, and $25 for a business membership.
