The annual Fireman's Ball, which was originally scheduled for this past weekend has been tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, May 16.
The Ball, which is the main fundraiser for the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department, had to be postponed due to county-wide imposed safety precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
"We hope to have the event on May 16, but that will all depend on the county and what we're allowed to do. Depending on how everything goes, we'll need to reassess everything at that time," said Lincoln Fire Chief Zach Muse.
In the meantime, their gun raffle will continue until the time of the event. Tickets can be purchased from any of the firefighters and at Mountain View Co-op, where the gun is on display. In addition, all three of the bars/restaurants that are offering take out and curbside services, Lambkins, The Lincoln Pit Stop, and the Wheel Inn, also have tickets available.
Once everything is confirmed, they will get the information out. What they will still need are donations for the silent and live auctions and for people to attend.
"Of course the Ball is a way for us to raise money, but it's also a family event and we want everyone to come and have a good time. Our hope is that by postponing it will be safe and that people will be in a better position to attend" Muse said.
Muse also reminds everyone to stay safe and wash their hands. "We'll get through this." he said.
