The Blackfoot Valley's News Source Since 1980
Sending out a big Hey Howdy Hey of thanks to all the folks who are still out there working during these uncertain times.
The first responders and healthcare workers who are on the frontlines of this virus and the high traffic areas, such as the gas stations and grocery and hardware stores, banks, post office, phone company, liquor store, coffee shops etc. From right here in Lincoln and beyond.
Also, I want to send out a big thanks to the folks who are still providing meals for the kids at school, the Senior Center and the bars and restaurants doing what they can with their food service. I am sorry if I left anyone out.
I did also want to send out a special thank you to all the folks who are preparing meals and sending them out into the community. I'm not at liberty to mention one of the families involved, but I do know that Tammy Jordan is a big part of it along with Rick Freeland. Tammy is heading things up and pulling volunteers together to prepare these special meals on the weekends. Rick is doing what he can to bring in food for it. Thank you to the people who have donated to it. Even I was blessed enough to receive one of these special meals and it showed up on Friday, just when I was on my lunch break. I was very happy to receive it.
We are also very blessed in our little community to have our own great little newspaper, the Blackfoot Valley Dispatch. Many thanks to Roger and Erin for all their hard work, especially in times likes these. I myself don't have social media or TV, so I rarely know what is going on, so our paper keeps me up to par.
Now more ever, people are turning to God in prayer. I myself feel I have a pretty close relationship with Him, even though I don't often go to church. I have nothing against any churches here or anywhere for that matter, but for me, I feel closest to God when I am out in the woods getting firewood or on a nice walk with my loyal furry friend Trooper and I often see Him in the eyes of a child. Although there are many times I think I can do things on my own, it leads me to think of this little prayer: "God, forgive me for thinking I can find what I need apart from you. Thank you for always being there even when I forget to look for you. Draw me to your side to live in the joy of walking with you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen."
I believe prayer is the most important thing we can do right now. Pray for family, friends, and critters. Pray for everyone. We have to keep lifting each other up, a smile, a wave, an unexpected meal. These are special gifts from God.
Thank you to all and God Bless
