Lincoln Sportsmen's Club Beginning Handgun Seminar well attended

In keeping with its goal of providing education and enjoyment of the shooting sports, the Lincoln Sportsmen’s Club hosted a Beginning Handgun Shooters’ Seminar Aug. 8.

Held at the club’s Weaver Range, it was led by Rich Debick, with Dennis Hefti and Tim Sowa.

Various types and sizes of handguns were displayed and identified. Pros and cons of the different styles were discussed.

Participants then shot at targets at distances of two, seven, and ten yards, with the leaders helping those who needed it with loading, correct hold, sighting and trigger pull. After this instruction and practice, there was a volunteer shoot at metal silhouette targets for those who chose to participate.

Students who ranged in age from their 20’s to our super senior lady Barb Solvie, who is 90, expressed their thanks and desire to do another shoot sometime in the future. The club was pleased that all those who “signed up, showed up” this time.

This was the third activity this summer sponsored by the club, following the Precision Rifle Seminar in June and the Concealed Carry Class in July.

Hopefully more activities can be planned soon.
