Lincoln Schools Question of the Week

At what age is a person an adult? Why do you think so?

"Ten, because then you have had lots and lots of birthdays."

Nora Longson, Pre-K

"You are an adult when you turn 16, because mom told me."

Gabriel Wayne, Kindergarten

"You have to be 13 because you can go to college to be a teacher and come back to the Lincoln Lynx to be a librarian and a pre-school teacher, or be like Mr. Kurtis."

Allison Leland, 1st grade

"I think a person turns adult at 18, because you finished school."

Chris Walsh, 2nd grade

"Probably 24 or 25 because a young adult can be 21, 20, 19, or 18."

Raymielle Longson, 4th grade

"I think what age when a person becomes an adult is 18 or 19 because, then you are a youth adult. Plus, you can get your license to drive and you are in high school."

Lily Groh, 5th grade

"The age that I consider a person an adult is when they are 18. I think this because this is when most people leave the house. They decide to fend for themselves and take over their own life. Some would argue that the correct age to say is 21 but honestly, at that point, you are getting used to adulthood."

Asa Lattin, 6th grade

"Any age... What I mean is one could be considered an adult once they reach a level of maturity and self-preservation.  Of course, no one would expect a two year old to be an adult, but, for all I know, anything is possible."

Noah Barnett, 8th grade

"Your age isn't the only thing that determines if you're an adult, how mature you are and what decisions you make responsibly determines if you're an adult. I would say that 18 is when you really become an adult."

Maddie Sampson, 9th grade

"Adulting isn't really determined by age.  It's more of what life has put you through and how you've handled that situation.  That's when you've 'Adulted.'"

Tristen Lauer, 10th grade

"I think when you get out of high school."

Owen Whittenberg, 11th grade

"Rather than a specific age, just when you reach a certain maturity level, mentally and physically."

MaKenzie Hayes, 12th grade
