I hope everyone had a nice Christmas and did some fun things together with family and friends.
Thank you to all who helped with bringing smiles to our kids and our seniors. Also, for the wonderful food boxes we were able to give out to many this year.
Seventy-four kids received some wonderful, nice gifts. The “Angel tree” sure helps. I was able to get “Mr. Banker” and the lovely girls to help get tags out, since the lobby was closed because of COVID. Citizen’s Alliance Bank is much more than a bank. We have some wonderful and caring people working there.
We also were able to bring a box of fruit snacks and glowstick flashlight to 135 kids at school. We did collect some snowpants, gloves, hats, etc. for the school to help some kids out.
For our seniors, this year the kids at school decorated small, lit trees “back in time” with popcorn and berries strung, and homemade decorations. We had many goodies baked for them and they received an electric blanket to keep them warm. Our seniors got a Christmas food box with canned meats, crackers, cookies, candy, salami, cheese, soups, pancake mix and syrup, jelly and much more, to jazz up their Christmas. We gifted 20 seniors.
Fifty-two family food boxes went out with turkey and dinner fixings, butter, jelly, pancake mix with syrup, chips, cookies, bread and more. We also were able to send out 14 turkey dinner boxes for Thanksgiving. This is all because of you people who helped get this for families, friends and neighbors, with their donation of gifts, monies and/or time. We can reach and help so many by working together – thank you!
COVID tried to make this all hard to do – we did it – we shared Christmas. I did have some very special and wonderful elves working overtime and “wow,” thank you Ranae, my shining star. She ran right beside me and kept up pretty good. Elf Cherie and husband Don made a lot of toys, thank you. Elf Becca wrapped all the food boxes so pretty – lots of boxes. Elf Judy and her friend Joyce helped me fill all the food boxes. I think we all had broken backs after that. I got to see so many people with love and caring hearts just “give”. T
he thrift store also gave a Merry Christmas sale – everything is $1no matter what. A lot of people got some wonderful items. I cleaned out and organized the shop with new items. We are back open Fridays 10a.m. – 4 p.m. I need more volunteers to help and work a Friday. Catch up with me if you can help some.
Thank you everyone who donates and/or shops at our thrift store. Thank you to you all for another good year. Your donations can be made best on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday behind the senior center 8-10 a.m. or noon -2 p.m. I’m out delivering meals on wheels to seniors from 10 a.m -noon, if you were wondering why I’m not at the senior center – and my truck was not waiting for your wonderful treasures…
Thank you for your support.
