When it's time to separate the men from the boys you never know who is actually going to show up. Character, integrity and grit are not worn on shoulders like Boy Scout badges; they emerge amidst trials and struggles.
Six scrappy young men at Lincoln High School are showing our town what courage, fortitude and dedication look like on the field of competition when they roll out on the basketball court to face taller, older and more numerous opponents every time they have a game this winter.
Led by Senior Bradley Howard, the Lynx men never lost their poise or concentration in the Saturday face-off with the Drummond Trojans. Although the lopsided score, 14 - 56, only served to show what a steep mountain they had to climb to get to the final buzzer, Coach Brown is very positive about his team and their future prospects. And since half of his varsity players are only in junior high, there is a lot of future left in their careers.
Eighth grade athletes Andrew Brown, Teegan Tybo and Noah Barnett looked like seasoned round ballers with their aggressive and patient ball handling, running the plays designed by Coach Brown.
Freshmen Logan Joyce and Trever Tolan kept the Trojans at bay with tough defense and fast-break charges.
High scoring man for the Lynx was Tybo with six points, six steals and six rebounds. Howard had six steals and two points, Tolan added five points, five steals, one free throw and three rebounds. Andrew Brown scored five points and had too many assists to count - showing his team spirit and leadership.
If you want to be inspired by the example of a young team of men who can show you what it means to not give up when life is hard, come to their next home game against Seeley Lake Feb. 4th at 4:30.
