Lynx competitive against Seeley Varsity

Andrew Brown scored a game high 13 points on Thursday night to lead the Lincoln Lynx in a respectable showing against the perennial 13C powerhouse Seeley Lake Blackhawks.

Shaking off the nerves that come with facing a visiting team whose starting squad averages 5-inches taller and three years older than our home grown JV Lynx, the Lincoln men put up lots of shots that didn't fall. But by the fourth quarter they had settled down and the Lynx matched the Blackhawks in steals, rebounds and scores. "Pretty impressive," remarked Coach Brown.

Senior 5 foot, 6 inch Bradley Howard drove the ball down the court with a vengeance, pulling down two rebounds from the 6-foot Seeley men and scoring four points. Trevor Tolan, the big man on campus, made one free throw and grabbed three rebounds.

New arrival in Lincoln, Teegan Tybo, had another sparkling night with seven points, eight rebounds and an in-your-face play that caused five turnovers to send the ball back to the Lynx key.

Brown, who led in assists with three, said, "We were getting better in the fourth quarter because we wanted a push to finish well." The final score, 25 to 60, shows the heart of this team and illustrates what Olympian Dan Gable said, "Gold medals aren't made of gold, they're made of great determination and a hard-to-find alloy called guts."

And the Lynx have it.
