Jr. Hi boys derailed by Rams

The scoreboard chronicled the relentless march to victory of the Junior High Lynx basketball team against the visiting Helena Christian School Rams on Tuesday, Nov. 23: ahead in the first period 19 – 11; ahead at the half 28 – 24; ahead in the third period 42 – 38; and tied 50-50 with one minute 30 seconds remaining.

The crafty Rams, seeing that their only hope of winning in the last seconds was to take star Kayden Tybo out of the game by drawing him into a defensive foul under the Ram’s hoop, succeeded in getting two quick fouls on Tybo, sending him to the bench.

The final score was 53 – 58, a disappointing result from a hard-fought battle of two talented squads.

Although the Rams were shorter than the home team “Big and Tall” Club, they were good shooters and very quick. Not intimidated by the fierce drives to the basket by Tybo or the flapping wingspan of Roegun Dietz, the Rams never gave up on the idea that they could still pull out a victory in the last second. It looked like the visitors were used to winning and refused to be denied the W.

The Lincoln junior high Lynx are also used to winning and this close contest was a wakeup call to exercise more care in travelling down the court. One dribble per step Lynx!

High scoring Lincoln player was Tybo with 22 (including one three-pointer), followed by Dietz with 16, Josh Rios with 11, Elijah Barnett with two and 5th grader Jaxson Meeks with two.
