Lady Lynx Shock Valley Christian Eagles

O how the mighty have fallen.

Rolling into Lincoln on Friday, Feb. 4, the Valley Christian Eagle ladies from Missoula are used to cruising to victory against Lincoln.

Laughingly, one member of the visiting team said to the Lynx coach, "We'll try not to run up the score against you too much."

New coach Ray Campos may not have been here when those past massacres happened, but he knew a great motivational opportunity when it came along. Relating the Eagles taunt to his team in the pre-game locker room meeting put fire in the eyes of his ladies and hardened them into a determined strike force.

Teams from small schools play for pride and enjoyment of the game since wins against bigger schools are often few and far between, but not tonight. Revenge is best served cold with ice in your veins.

The final score? Well, let's just say pride goes before a fall. The Valley Christian ladies were never really in the game, getting pounded in the first half and not able to recover before the clock ran out. The Lady Lynx won 43 - 34, stunning everyone.

High point Lynx lady was Kylee Copenhaver with 13, which included three 3-pointers. Second place honors went to Krymzyn Dempster and Jess Zarske with nine each and Makena Copenhaver with four.

The Lady Lynx effort was especially noteworthy considering the Valley Christian had one player who scored 21 points, or more than half of all the Eagle points. A fierce Lynx defense did their best to keep her from taking over the game. Senior Jenna Templeton had eight points and contributed so much wild defense that she fouled out.
