Ron Kruelski remembered with $5,000 scholarship

The family of Ron Kruelski, a Lincoln resident and faithful member of the Blackfoot Valley Bible Church, wanted their dad to be remembered for his life-transformation after accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior late in his life.

For many years, Ron was a devoted supporter of youth and children's ministries. Ron died in the fall of 2021 of a massive heart attack on the top of Stemple Pass.

In his memory, his family established a permanently endowed scholarship of $5000 to be awarded to a Lincoln senior who participates in the youth and children's ministries of the Blackfoot Valley Bible Church. These activities include Wednesday night Youth Group, a week of summer Bible camp at C Bar N in Augusta or Camp Utmost in Clearwater, and serving in the local children's Vacation Bible Club at the BVBC in August.

Applicants are asked to write a 1000-word essay describing their personal walk with Jesus and their involvement in the youth ministries of the church. The applicants are not required to be members of the Blackfoot Bible Church, because teens from different churches or no family church come to Youth Group. The applications are sent to Ron's family in Arizona, who make the final choice of the recipient.

Winner of the $5000 scholarship was senior Scottie Butterfield, who will use the funds to attend the Montana Swan Lake Guide and Outfitting School, a one year program that will equip him to become a professional outfitter.

In an unexpected turn of events, Ron's family decided to award a second scholarship of $2,500 to Jenna Templeton who will be attending MSU.

The scholarship money can be used at any four-year college or university, junior college, trade school or Bible college.

Most scholarships are awarded on scholastic merit or financial need, but the Ron Kruelski Memorial Scholarship is given to students who have pursued spiritual guidance and comfort through the ministries of the BVBC church. Congratulations to Scott Butterfield and Jenna Templeton.
