Letter: Women have a Choice!

Women and men, you do still have a choice. Say no to unprotected sex unless you are seeking to have and raise a child. You can no longer think that you just can get an abortion. Get on and stay on birth control. See that your daughters are on birth control. Talk to your sons and stress the importance of respecting girls and women and to always seek clear consent for sex. Women, if you do not wish to have a child and are approached for unprotected sex, clearly say no, even if it is your husband, finance, boyfriend or a stranger. If your 'no' is not listened to, always file a rape charge and follow it through with prosecution. If you are forced to give birth to a pregnancy after saying 'no', always seek full child support. Tough? Yes, but you do have this choice. Some men might start rethinking their beliefs on abortion. On the news and in a Montana newspaper I read that abortion is not mentioned in the Bible. Yes, you cannot find the word 'abortion' through a word search of the Bible. But carefully read Numbers 5:11-29. I wonder about persons who call themselves priests or ministers and either don't know the Law God gives here or for their own reasons keep it hidden from the people of their church and instead use other unrelated verses to claim that by the law of God, every life is sacred. Even though abortion was a practice during his time, Jesus, never spoke out against it. As we know, he knew the scriptures.

In summary of Numbers 5:11-29, God gave Moses a command for the Israelites that if a man's wife goes astray, even if it is hidden from him or if a spirit of jealousy comes on him, even if she has not defiled herself, he shall bring her to the priest. The husband shall take a grain offering of jealousy. The priest shall set the woman before God and dishevel her hair and place the grain offering in her hands. The priest shall have the water of bitterness that brings the curse in his hand. The priest shall make her take an oath that if she has not defiled herself to be immune to this water of bitterness that brings the curse. But if she has defiled herself, let God make her uterus drop, her womb discharge. The woman shall say amen.

On Facebook, an adult niece of mine asked for someone just to show her where there is a law in the Bible that allows abortion. I told her to read Numbers 5:11-29. She wrote back to me after questioning her priest and said that this scripture is just about property rights. Yes, this law was given as the Israelites were getting ready to divide up the Promise Land to men one year old and older. Men may have started to worry about what if some other man's child inherited 'his' land. But God gave this Law and when the water of bitterness causes the uterus to drop and the womb to discharge, that is an abortion.

One more choice you have. You have the right to vote. Look for candidates that fully acknowledge that women and not the government should have full choice over their own bodies. Vote carefully in every election.
