Chip sealing of RIDs to begin next week

Chip sealing of the streets in both the Lincoln and Lambkin's Rural Improvement Districts is scheduled for Aug. 16 – 17.

Lewis and Clark Public Works director Jenny Chambers reported at Lincoln Government Day that crews have completed pothole patching on the streets in town in advance of the surface preservation project. Additionally, the corner near the Hotel Lincoln, which was little more than a mass of potholes, has been blade patched to improve drainage.

Chambers said the remaining loose chips will be swept Monday, Aug. 22.

Once the chip seal project is complete, the county will paint double yellow lines on Sleepy Hollow Lane south of Highway 200 and on a section of 6th Ave, east of Mountain View Coop.

The goal of the striping on Sleepy Hollow is to help visiting drivers understand it's a street and not an extension of the Lambkins parking lot. Likewise, the hope is that the striping on 6th will help people with RVs and campers recognize when they're blocking the street as they wait for an open gas pump or to use the dump station at the Co-op. Both streets have had issues with vehicle blocking the respective streets.
