The Lincoln volleyball season kicked off with a visit from the Granite Lady Prospectors from Philipsburg Thursday, Sept. 1.
Freshman veteran Makenna Copenhaver said the team was "super anxious to play before the hometown crowd," and was fighting first game jitters, reflected in their 9 - 25 loss.
But the experienced squad settled down into a rhythm for the next two matches, showing a lot of intense focus and calm "get-it-done" resolve.
Playing without their strong senior, Jess Zarske, who was one practice short of eligibility, the remaining seven Lynx ladies were competitive against Granite who brought 15 players, including seven seniors.
The remaining games went down 17 - 25; 19 - 25 but the Lincoln squad showed a lot of improvement over last year and coach Janzen was pleased with their motivation and skills, skills that were honed by full team participation in the recent summer volleyball camp.
