DAR Scholarship Applications Opened Nov. 1st

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship and American Indians Committees opened online applications for students wanting to apply for any of their 27 national scholarship opportunities for graduating high school students, college undergraduates, and graduates on Nov. 1 through January 31, 2023, at 11:59 pm (Hawaii Time). The direct URL link to DAR Academic Works is https://dar.academicworks.com.

A wide array of scholarships is available for students majoring in American history, American studies, history, historic preservation, chemistry, education, English, horticulture, math, law, business administration, nursing, medicine, and physical/occupational therapy. There are two special scholarships offered by the American Indians Committee for applicants who can provide proof of membership in a state or federally recognized tribe; a scholarship for children or stepchildren of dues-paying DAR members; and, as part of DAR support for America's 250th anniversary, a $5,000 America 250! Scholarship one-time award intended for up to four students each year who already are in college and pursuing the study of American history.

Applicants must use the DAR secure and confidential platform to submit applications and to upload and submit all requested information and documents; mailed or emailed information is not accepted. Applicants must be citizens of the United States, provide proof of citizenship in their application, and plan to attend or be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States. Only two of the available scholarships require applicants to be DAR members or have a relationship to a DAR member. For more information and answers to commonly asked questions, please refer to the DAR public website scholarship information pages here.

This Academic Works platform is not used for any of the other DAR scholarships or contests offered by the ten local chapters in Montana and the state society, such as the American History, DAR Good Citizen or DAR School Committees. Oro Fino Chapter Scholarship Committee co-chairs Jean Coffin O'Connor and Jane Lee Hamman not only are encouraging area students to apply, but are urging community members to consider serving part-time during a six-week period from Feb. 1 through mid-March 2023 in assessing applications in their area of expertise as part of the 250-member nationwide team of volunteers being assembled for this task.
