A thief made off with a few thousand dollars in cash and checks after an early morning robbery at D&D Foodtown, Saturday Morning, Nov. 12.
Security cameras at the grocery store and the neighboring Rusty Relics antique store caught footage of the break-in that happened at about 3:21 a.m.
Video footage shows the individual walk over to Rusty Relics from near the D&D and enter the enclosed porch. Footage from the porch shows him spend a few minutes looking around for a tool before picking up an old wrench and leaving.
Video from the D&D front entrance clearly shows the man, wearing a black hoodie, a blue facemask, winter gloves and black jeans, use the wrench to break out the lower part of one of the store's glass doors and enter.
Once inside, video shows the person apparently look around for the store office. After finding the office and spending a couple minutes rummaging around, he takes the store's earnings from the previous day and absconds with them out the building's back door.
Cashier Beth Cousins discovered the break in at about 7 a.m., when she arrived to get the store ready to open. Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Jesse Short was first to arrive and secure the scene until Lewis and Clark County Deputy Sheriff Jake Isbell arrived.
We'll update the story with any additional details from law enforcement as we get them.
