The Blackfoot Valley's News Source Since 1980
It all began with an idea at the Lincoln Community Hall meeting. Now, with more than 20 organizations, the Lincoln Community Social (a.k.a. Get to Know Your Community and Neighbors Social) event is well on its way.
The event, hosted by the Lincoln Community Hall and the Lincoln Valley Chamber of Commerce at the historic Lincoln Community Hall, is scheduled for Friday, April 14, from 4-8 p.m..
There are four main reasons the thought of a community social came about:
First, many local organizations are looking for people to get involved. Volunteers are the lifeblood of any organization and currently there are several in need of more involvement and participation.
Second, there are several new people who have moved to the Lincoln community and may not have an idea of all the ways to get involved.
Third, since the isolation brought on by COVID, people have been looking for ways to connect with others, but may not have had the resources available for them to know where or how to do so.,
Lastly, in recent years, communication has become more limited and there has been some difficulty in getting the word out about things happening in Lincoln.
By hosting a community social, it allows people to come to one place, meet other people, make new friends, and find out the clubs and organizations that might interest them and how they are able get involved and be part of the Lincoln community. Also, by hosting it on a Friday evening it allows both full-time and part-time Lincoln residents to attend the event, as well as those who work during the day.
So far, the organizations planning to have a table and share their information includes: Accelerate Montana, American Legion Post 9, Blackfoot Pathways: Sculpture in the Wild, Blackfoot River Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, Blackfoot Valley Optimist Club, Citizens Alliance Banks, Disabeled American Veterans, The Montana Department of Natural Resources, Lewis & Clark Library - Lincoln Branch, Lincoln Airport Foundation, Lincoln Ambulance, Lincoln Community Garden, Lincoln Community Hall, Lincoln Council for the Arts, Lincoln Fiber Circle, Lincoln Hospital Board, Lincoln Loggers Wrestling Team, Lincoln Senior Center, Lincoln Valley Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department, Lincoln Ranger District, Lincoln Rodeo Club, Parker Medical Center, Ponderosa Snow Warriors Power House Gym, and the Upper Blackfoot Valley Historical Society.
Residents should be receiving a postcard in the mail with more information in the coming days, but to help get the word out organizers are also asking folks to share the information with friends, family and of course on social media.
