The Lewis and Clark County Public Works Department is hosting a public meeting to discuss a proposed increase to the assessments that fund both the Lincoln and Lambkin Rural Improvement Districts.
The meeting is slated to be held in conjunction with the Upper Blackfoot Valley Community Council meeting at the Lincoln Library Tuesday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m.
According to information provided by Special Districts Program Coordinator Jessica Makus, increasing the assessments to match inflation will prevent the need for another round of loans in 2029 and save the community money in interest, while ensuring funding for road maintenance on both RIDs is available when needed.
In the past, both RIDs took out loans in 2014 and 2022 to fund resurfacing and maintenance of the streets in Lincoln. The streets typically need to be chip sealed about every seven years to keep the asphalt surfaces in shape and avoid the need for more costly reconstruction.
