MILLTOWN, Mont. - The Montana Department of Transportation, along with construction partner Knife River Inc., will resurface a portion of Montana Highway 200. The project area begins at the intersection of MT 200 and Montana Highway 210 S and continues for 7.5 miles east on MT 200. The work is scheduled to begin June 19th, weather permitting.
Improvements to this stretch of road will include a resurfaced roadway, seal and cover (chip seal), fog seal, new pavement markings, and installing shoulder rumble strips. The work is anticipated to be completed by the end of August.
The concrete curb work is expected to take approximately two and a half weeks and will be completed during the day from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The milling and paving work is expected to take approximately three weeks. Work will take place at night from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Night work minimizes traveler impact as well as total construction time.
Upon completion of milling and paving, chip seal and fog seal will be done with work completed during the day and will take approximately three days.
Travelers can expect 15 to 20-minute delays, reduced speeds, single lane traffic, and traffic control in place through the project area.
MDT encourages the public to be cautious at all times and leave additional time for travel. MDT wants everyone to remember the three S's of work zone safety: speed, space and stress. Slowdown in work zones and follow speed limits. Leave enough room around your vehicle. Stay calm and pay attention to the road. Be prepared for delays, so before you leave, download https://www.mdt.mt.gov/travinfo/mobile.shtml or visit https://www.511mt.net/ and check your route. If you're driving and want to check in, pull safely off the road and dial 511. Tune in to local radio stations and watch for variable message signs along the route.
